Intended learning outcomes

Bypass successfully this course, the student should be able to:

a. Knowledge and understanding:

  • Recognize the main stages of scientific research.
  • Explain experimental error and how to control it to increase the accuracy of the experiment.
  • Recognize the appropriate statistical test for an experiment.
  • Determine the appropriate experimental design for the experiment.
  • Determine the significant differences between the averages of the treatments.

b. Mental skills:

  • Connect the main stages of scientific research.
  • Discuss how to control experimental error and increase experiment accuracy.
  • Compare the statistical tests used in analyzing the results of the trials.
  • Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the experimental designs.
  • Explain the presence of significant and non-significant differences between the means of treatments.

c. Scientific and professional skills:

  • Apply the main stages of scientific research to a scientific experiment.
  • propose steps to control experimental error.
  • propose a statistical test appropriate to a scientific experiment.
  • Develop a scientific research plan according to a specific experimental design.
  • Apply the letter method to determine the significant differences between the means of the - treatments.

d. Generic and transferable skills:

  • Adhere to work ethics.
  • Adhere to the rules of the college and the department.
  • Communicate with others within a work team.
  • Deal with computers and modern electronic programs.
  • Solve the problems faced by him in cooperation with others.

Teaching and learning methods

  • Theoretical lectures based on good diction and the use of data show.
  • Applications and exercises for designing experiments which evaluated as a part of the lab work.
  • Teamwork to study research proposal designs evaluated as a part of the lab work.
